Chartwell Station, one of Albany’s newer communities, is located in Southeast Albany at the far end of Hill Street and West of Moraga Av. This little community is made up of 70 Craftsman style homes built by Hayden Homes from 2004-2007. The neighborhood has its own private park with a sports court, playground and both covered and uncovered picnic areas. Oak elementary school and South Albany High School are both located just a few blocks away.

With easy access to both I-5 and Highway 34, Chartwell Station is conveniently located for commuters travelling to most anywhere in the Willamette Valley. The Santiam-Albany Canal borders the neighborhood to the north. This canal was hand-dug in the 1870’s to transport goods from the eastern part of the valley to Albany’s port on the Willamette River. The current proved to be too swift for travel upstream. The canal is now used to divert water for Albany’s water supply from the South Santiam River and send it through Albany’s Water Treatment Facility.

To the south, Chartwell Station is bordered by an Albany & Eastern Railroad line transporting goods between Albany and Lebanon. By most accounts heard from residents, the train runs in and out once each per day and doesn’t run during the night.
